William Street Apothecary Portadown
William Street Apothecary combines holistic natural health and well-being in the form of retail, consultations and treatments. Our aim is to help alleviate suffering, illness and improve the patient’s quality of life. The apothecary is owned and operated by Dr Ellen M McKenna, who is a Naturopathic Herbal Medicine practitioner and has been in practice since 2008.
Dr McKenna has a particular interested in preventative health care and is committed to empowering people to take responsibility for their own health and well-being. This is achieved by involving the patient in their own treatment programs and providing them with the tools and knowledge to allow the right decisions to be made in their everyday lives.
About Me
My background is in science and Naturopathic Herbal Medicine. I have a BSc (Hons) in chemistry and biology; MSc (Distinction) in biology; and DPhil in organic chemistry.
I have post-graduate certificates and diplomas in Education, Naturopathic Herbal Medicine, Bach Flower Remedies, Nutrition (specialising in low carbohydrate high fat diet), Iridology, Dr Hauschka treatments, Jennifer Young treatments, Clinical Aromatherapy and Hot and Cold Stone Massage. I have specialist training to be able to offer beauty treatments to those who suffer from cancer.
I am registered with The Irish Register of Herbalists, The Herbal Society, The British Herbal Medicine Association, The Association of Naturopathic Practitioners, and the General Naturopathic Council. I am the scientific consultant for the Irish Register of Herbalists since 2010 and have previously served four years on the committee. In addition, I am a chartered chemist, biologist, and scientist with Full membership of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and the Royal Society of Biology. I am also a Full member of the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists.
